SDF Attack Leaves Two Soldiers Dead Near Syria’s Aleppo

(MENAFN) Two Syrian soldiers died and a third was seriously wounded on Wednesday after a Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) attack struck a military position near Aleppo in northern Syria, according to official media.

A guided missile launched by the SDF hit an army post close to Tishrin Dam in eastern Aleppo, a state-run news agency reported, citing the Defense Ministry’s Media and Communications Directorate.

The ministry labeled the strike a “blatant violation” of previous understandings and agreements between the government and the SDF.

“The SDF continues to reject all previous understandings and agreements, disregarding them by targeting army positions and killing its personnel,” the ministry said.

This attack follows a similar incident on Oct. 9 in the same region, when one Syrian soldier was killed and others injured by an SDF assault.

The latest violence comes just three days after Defense Minister Murhaf Abu Qasra and SDF Commander Mazloum Abdi agreed to an immediate ceasefire in northern and northeastern Syria, following clashes in Aleppo’s Al-Ashrafiyah and Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhoods.

The SDF is dominated by the terrorist group YPG, the Syrian branch of the terrorist PKK.

Earlier this year, on March 10, the Syrian presidency announced a deal to incorporate the SDF into state institutions, emphasizing the nation’s territorial integrity and rejecting any separatist ambitions. However, the group has repeatedly breached the agreement.
