Syrian Interior Ministry Reports Neutralization of SDF Explosives

(MENAFN) Syria’s Interior Ministry announced Sunday that its units dismantled explosive devices positioned by the YPG/SDF inside residences and along streets in Aleppo’s Sheikh Maqsoud district, describing them as “prepared for terrorist use.”

According to a ministry statement, specialized squads carrying out security inspections neutralized multiple explosive materials, including a vehicle loaded with mortar shells and numerous suicide drones discovered inside civilian houses.

The statement added that teams also removed improvised explosive devices placed within homes and along roadways by SDF fighters.

During field operations, personnel identified a booby-trapped rocket and managed it according to established technical protocols to guarantee safe disposal.

The explosives and suicide drones were relocated to secure facilities, while the booby-trapped rocket was detonated under direct supervision without resulting in injuries or property damage, the ministry confirmed.

It further reported that internal security forces in Aleppo uncovered “large warehouses containing significant quantities of assorted weapons belonging to the SDF during field security sweep operations in the Sheikh Maqsoud.”

The confiscated arsenal included landmines, improvised explosive devices, rockets, shells, grenades, and extensive amounts of ammunition. The cache was described as “a direct threat to public security and civilian safety.”
