Turkish Intelligence Captures ISIS Suspects in Syria in Joint Operation

(MENAFN) Türkiye announced Saturday that its intelligence agency captured 10 suspected members of ISIS in Syria during a coordinated operation carried out alongside Syrian intelligence services, according to Turkish security reports.

The operation was conducted by the National Intelligence Organization, commonly known as MIT. Among those detained was an individual allegedly connected to the 2015 bombing at Ankara’s train station, an attack that killed more than 100 people.

Officials said the suspects had previously crossed from Türkiye into Syria, where they joined ISIS and later became involved in the group’s activities, including participation in several terrorist attacks inside Türkiye.

After identifying the suspects’ presence in Syria, Turkish intelligence reportedly worked closely with Syrian counterparts to monitor their movements before launching a targeted operation that led to their capture and transfer back to Türkiye.

Authorities stated that nine of the detainees were formally arrested, while one suspect remained under extended detention for further investigation.

During interrogations, the suspects allegedly provided information related to ISIS operational directives, internal training procedures, and propaganda-related activities.
