Jordan Restarts Natural Gas Supplies to Syria, Boosting Energy Flow
Director General Sufyan al-Batayneh said in remarks to state television Al-Mamlaka that the shipments have restarted under a bilateral agreement between the two countries. He confirmed that gas flows are now back in operation at the agreed daily volume.
“We have resumed natural gas shipments to Syria at a rate of 70 million cubic feet per day,” he said.
According to reports, Syria’s Energy Ministry said the renewed supply has had an immediate impact on electricity generation, with some areas now receiving continuous power for the first time in years.
Syrian Energy Minister Mohammed al-Bashir said on social media platform X that electricity availability has improved noticeably across the country following the restart of gas flows and ongoing maintenance work on the power network, according to reports.
He added that some regions are now experiencing 24-hour electricity supply, contributing to greater stability in the national grid and more balanced energy use.
However, he noted that the improvements have not yet reached all parts of the country, with repair work still underway on substations and transmission infrastructure, particularly in eastern and southern areas, according to reports.
