Gunmen Kill 2 Syrian Defense Ministry Personnel in Idlib Attack

(MENAFN) Unidentified gunmen shot dead two Syrian Defense Ministry personnel on Wednesday in the town of Al-Foua, in the northeastern countryside of Idlib province in northwestern Syria, state media reported.

The state news agency gave no details on who the victims were or how the attack unfolded, and it did not say who was responsible.

Third deadly attack on Syrian troops this month
The latest killings follow a string of shootings targeting soldiers in eastern Syria, which the Defense Ministry has previously reported.

On Oct. 19, a soldier was killed in an attack in Al-Baghouz, in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, according to a Syrian television channel that cited a source in the ministry’s Media and Communication Department.

Another soldier died of wounds from an earlier assault, the ministry announced Oct. 10. The channel reported that unidentified gunmen opened fire on him on the evening of Oct. 6 in the town of Buqrus, in eastern rural Deir ez-Zor.
